Chocolate Revel Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ⅓ cup chopped walnuts
  • 400 g can condensed milk
  • 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 tsp vanilla

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F. In a mixer, combine a cup of the butter and brown sugar and mix in high speed until light and fluffy. Slowly add the eggs, and 2 tsps. of vanilla. Lower the speed, and mix further.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Add the oats, and mix. Then add these the butter mixture, and fold until well combined. Set aside.

Step 3

For the chocolate layer, pour condensed milk, chocolate chips, a pinch of salt, and the remaining butter in a saucepan. Place the pan over low heat, and stir until the chocolate chips have melted. Then, add the walnuts and vanilla, and turn the heat off.

Step 4

Lightly grease a 9 x 15 baking pan. Pour 2/3 of the oat mixture into the pan. Then, add the chocolate mixture on top of the oat mixture. Finally, dot the chocolate mixture with the remaining oat mixture.

Step 5

Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Once done, remove the pan and let it cool before slicing.
