Buttery Scones

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 3 tsps. baking powder
  • 120 ml milk
  • 1 stick of butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • ¼ cup of sugar
  • 1 medium egg


Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the butter, and rub it in the flour mixture until it has a soft crumble texture. Then, stir in the sugar.

Step 2

Whisk together the egg and milk, then add this to the flour mixture. Stir these together until you form a soft dough. Take the dough and place in floured surface.

Step 3

Sprinkle some flour on the dough, and lightly knead it. Roll gently using a rolling pin until you have a 2 cm thin flat dough. Cut using scone or pastry cutter, and place each into a greased nonstick baking tray.

Step 4

Brush with some milk on each scone. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. After baking, remove from oven, and let the scones cool on a cooling rack. Enjoy!
